Fitness For Every Body

I often talk to people with physical problems that they think keep them from exercising.  I have them myself, but there’s a (really fun) solution to any physical limitations you might have.  It doesn’t cost a lot, doesn’t require a membership, and you can do it in any type of weather.

Exercise is a proven way to lower glucose numbers, and this counts too.  If you don’t believe me try testing before and after the exercise and you’ll see for yourself!

There are all kinds of chair exercises. Here’s a few, and I can tell you they are a real workout!  Don’t let the others have all the fun, because you’re able too!

 Chair Dancing!

I love dancing, and Latin is my favorite!  there are a zillion of chair dancing videos on utube, just type it in search.  Here’s a great one of my favorites

Latin Chair Dancing

   Chair Arobics

Chair Tai Chi

This is the form I did for many years.  I’m really excited because I didn’t know there was a chair form of Yang – Long form!

  Chair Qi Gong

Another very excellent exercise that I’ve done for many years.

There’s also some excellent chair yoga videos.

There’s NO reason not to be active, and it’s also fun and relaxing.

So what are you waiting for?

Oh my gosh, what a fab idea. I am able to do some….have a lot of hardware in my back that prevents some exercises and leg brace that prevents others.

I wish I would have known about this a whole ago. Thanks for this website and all the great info.

I too have physical challenges that make exercise difficult, so that’s why I came up with this post. I didn’t just write it, I do it. :-)

Thank you, Lizzie for your generosity. Such a site has never been so wonderful. You have answered so many of my questions!!!! I have been dx-ed type 2 diabetic for ten plus years. Through the years I have fought the battle of gaining and losing weight. Now, with all the back and hip problems I live with the chair exercises are a blessing. I practiced Yoga for many years and always wanted to find tai chi classes but never was successful. Thank you so very much for bringing me promise for a way to losen up my aging bones and making my life so much more enjoyable…………. with blessings…… Megan

      Hi Megan,

I too have physical problems because of severe arthritis. I was originally searching for things for myself, and decided to share what I’d found. It’s true that you just have to keep moving, but there are many ways to reach the same goal. I love Tai Chi, I did the standing version for many years until my arthritis made it impossible, this is a great alternative.

    Hi Lizzy
These are great videos. I am not computer savy much at all. I would have never thought to go to YouTube to get these things. I tried them all as done here and the latin salsa convinced me that I am even more uncoordinated than I thought but I
sure was laughing. I am going to do these often. Its a lot of fun.
I also walk my dog Stanley twice a day too.
    Thanks for these

      Hi Betsy,

The Latin one’s my favorite, but I like all of them. I have mobility problems so these work great for me. You might want to try Yoga too sometime. You can really work up a sweat with Yoga, although many people don’t believe it. Tai Chi too. Once you get the old Chi working it gets HOT! :-)

      Thanks T.

It took me a lot of time. BTW, I removed all of the advertising from your post because I don’t allow it on my site. :-)
